Liberty Belles

Victor Hodge blogged the Juicy Mother 2 reading in Philadelphia. Thanks, Victor -- and thank YOU, Jane, for the B&W photos that made us all look so young and fetching.

For me, the evening's million-dollar bonus was the attendance of the wonderful Roz Warren --the humorist & editor whose feminist anthologies Dyke Strippers, Kitty Libber (both of which I contibuted to) plus many others gave invaluable support to queer female cartoonists and pushed back significantly against the notion that feminism and humor are irreconciliable ideas. I've known Roz for years but we've never met in person, and it was a thrill to see her!

Lay it on Lavender

Lavender Magazine has not only upgraded the display of its comics web page content, but has also added a commenting thread to each featured strip. This is VERY cool -- please post Bitter Girl, Curbside, Dykesville, and Trolin comments to reward them -- and us!

Bitter in USA TODAY...and Gmax limbo

It took me a while to notice this, but Bitter Girl got some nice props in USA TODAY.

The link, like most press links to BG, is to Gmax, a site that's done a wonderful job of featuring the strip, but readers have alerted me that it's had BG on hiatus since end of October (along with Q Syndicate's other strip A Couple of Guys). I'm told this is due to unresolved business between them and Q Syndicate, and apparently the ball is in Gmax's court. I'm just as anxious as you are about this, because until I start collecting BG into books, Gmax is the only place that archives it. So by all means, keep writing me and QS to complain, but please also drop Gmax a line encouraging them to straighten things out, so to speak. Meanwhile, there's plenty of other places to read it...
