{"id":540,"date":"2012-03-15T04:10:44","date_gmt":"2012-03-15T04:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joanhilty.net\/site\/?p=540"},"modified":"2014-05-29T18:53:24","modified_gmt":"2014-05-29T18:53:24","slug":"the-ipad-and-comics-sxsw-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joanhilty.net\/site\/?p=540","title":{"rendered":"The iPad and comics, SXSW style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Operation Ajax<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0and its publishing vendor <a href=\"http:\/\/cognitocomics.com\/\">Cognito Comics<\/a> got star treatment at <a href=\"http:\/\/huff.to\/y7AeQ8\">this SXSW panel,<\/a> deservedly so; it&#8217;s one of the few emerging graphic-content platforms that I think can really compete with Comixology.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s a zero-sum game; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comixology.com\/\">Comixology<\/a> does excellent work, and I&#8217;m big on the rising-tide-lifts-all-boats theory when it comes to graphic novel e-publishing. Some market segments will prefer the Comixology interface; some will prefer the Cognito interface. At the end of the day, everyone wins. Though, I admit it: I love that Cognito was inspired to build the Active Reader platform via\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Torso-Brian-Michael-Bendis\/dp\/1582401748\">Torso,<\/a><\/em>\u00c2\u00a0co-authored by my brilliant colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/joanhilty.net\/site\/?page_id=90\">Marc Andreyko.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operation Ajax\u00c2\u00a0and its publishing vendor Cognito Comics got star treatment at this SXSW panel, deservedly so; it&#8217;s one of the few emerging graphic-content platforms that I think can really compete with Comixology.
